Do You Think Jehovah's Witnesses Are Truly Happy?
by StAnn ini've been wondering about this a lot lately.
when i was a jw, i was always miserable because i was so busy trying to keep up with everyone else, i.e., field service hours, dressing appropriately, having the right attitude, feeling guilty about desiring things not approved by the wts, such as an education.
my own experience as a jw was so filled with unhappiness that it never occurred to me that anybody in the wts could actually be happy and have a joyful life.

Absolutely there are plenty of truly happy witnesses. I was never one either but they do exist. More proof of that than of bigfoot too. :)

Had a long conversation with my mom tonight and we went back and forth for over an hour regarding the WT. She said something tonight that kind of left me speechless as I've never heard anything like this one before.
The WT is right because...
It has been continuously in print since 1879 ... AND ... Every magazine is exactly 32 pages.
I objected that the length of the mags means nothing and anybody could...she cut me off and said no they couldn't. I dropped it there knowing that to her, the fact that they get exactly the needed info into exactly 32 pages is more proof positive.
So has anyone else heard this kind of proof that the WT is doing God's work?
Other than that we covered many topics. Covered is incorrect, we brushed by many topics. You all know how that is. Very non-combative and rather interesting but in the end the WT is still right of course. No doubt about that - no matter what. Although when she brought up that the Catholic Church claims that the pope is infallible she did agree that jw's must agree with all WT teachings which is effectively the same thing as believing the WT to be infallible. Round and round and round....
In keeping with the title then, what are the strangest proofs you've heard - or believed yourself.
The WT is right because...
10. all the WT magazines are 32 pages. -

Noah's ark - Can't believe I once actually thought it was true
by sam_sane_now inwhen i was a jw i didn't even question that the noah's ark story might not be true.
i didn't realise that it wasn't achievable for a handful of people to gather literally millions of animals - two of each kind - and fit them into a boat where they would all survive for many days.
i didn't think about the fact that if the highest mountain was covered with water then how could plant life like trees and flowers come to exist again, especially so soon after, with the raven grabbing an olive leaf was it?

----- Thank god that I was not in the ark -----
There's just something funny about that. Thank god I wasn't on god's survival ship. -

This made me curious as to what the house might be worth these days so I looked it up on Zillow.com. It appears to be the only house on that street that no value estimate shows up. Why that? - is it a historical landmark or something? Nahhhh. Other homes there are valued around $500k to close to $1m. No time to investigate further now though.

Chapter 2- 1975 -Excerpt from the upcoming book, "The Kingdom Hall No More"
by Kingdom Hall No More in"so, the society was putting out that 1975 was the year that this system of things will come to an end, meaning the wicked were going to be destroyed.
discussions at circuit and district assemblies, and local kingdom halls were given.
conversations about 1975 were every day talk.

Just another of the Great Siftings. Anytime the society f's up thousands upon thousands of lives they award themselves a laurel and hardy handshake and say how wonderful it was to have yet another Great Sifting.

Preparing for Armageddon
by Wordly Andre inwhen i was a kid i can remember really being scared that armageddon was coming, you know the crap about it's almost here, and i would never live to see high school and all my classmates would be killed by jemima, i used to have nightmares when i was a kid over this.
i know of some family and friends who have since left the org, some have told me stories of how their family would prepare for armageddon, like keeping food and extra copies of watchterror and awacks, and have some kind of rehearsal for the end, some sounds like those old 1950's movietone shorts about preparing for the a bomb, did you or your family do anything weird to prepare for armageddon?

My family never had such a plan. In fact I never really heard talk of hiding the bible or mags or even food for tribulation time. I wasn't one in the know though. Only once did anyone outright say such a thing and I was taken back a bit by it. This long time elder kind of rocked back on his heels all proud - his usual stance - and said he had a bible hidden where no one would find it and he wouldn't tell ANYONE where. I can only assume he meant he didn't even trust his own family since they might turn apostate at the last instant.

"and the end is near." Not as funny as ending every sentence with "under the sheets."
Brothers, after the meeting there will be a special presentation under the sheets.
Sisters, may I have a word with you in the back room under the sheets.
The only good apostate is a dead apostate under the sheets.
